So many forum posts follow the pattern of X is more powerful than Y. I use Y. Nerf X! I disagree. The game would get pretty boring if everything were nerfed into impotence. Instead, we should be encouraging CCP to balance things. Sure, there are things that will need to be nerfed, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't consider buffing other things as a possible solution.
Many are complaining right now that the time-to-kill is too short, especially with Assault Rifles. I don't disagree; something needs to change. The obvious solution is to reduce the damage projection of some weapons GÇö whether it's reducing the range, rate of fire, or damage per shot. Weapons should be equally appealing; one type shouldn't outclass all others in almost every aspect.
Others are complaining that Gallente suits with Armor Tanks are overpowered, but nerfing them doesn't solve the TTK problem. Perhaps a buff to all other suits is in order. We are, after all, clone super-soldiers who fall from the sky in armored suits that cost almost as much as small space ships. Even if we're using weapons that are equally as advanced, it makes sense that we should be able to stand up to a little bit of punishment.
Lastly, remember that the game is not feature complete, and balances and new items are being added every month or so. Don't stop wanting the game to be better, just consider that adding something can be just as effective as taking something away. |

You're thinking about it too one-dimensionally, and that's exactly what I'm trying to bring to light. Why should the shotgun one-hit kill everything? Most Snipers can't even do that with a well-placed headshot GÇö the Sentinel still stands. Why not increase the magazine size and rate of fire to reduce the Shotgun's time-to-kill?
GǪand I never said that every weapon needs to be equally balanced in every role. In fact, I specifically stated that homogenizing everything would make the game boring. The problem we have right now is that some weapons, and some dropsuits, are better than others in almost every role. |
